The Chemical Processing of Forest Products major was founded in 1958, making it the second oldest major offered by the college. Initially, many of the professors were experts educated in the Soviet Union. Now, young professors have built on the excellent traditions of the past and have developed the course into a national first-class major, with excellent styles of teaching and studying.
This major emphasizes a solid foundation in chemistry and chemical engineering, as well as highlighting the important characteristics of forest products. The main modules include inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, chemical principles, chemistry of plant resources, natural product chemistry, fine organic synthesis, chemical technology of forest products and design of chemical plant.
